Reducing vehicle speed within our village interior is one of our top priorities. Over the last year we have had new Speed Indicator Devices installed in both The Street and Chapel Lane and these have made a visible difference to driver behaviour in these locations. We are also awaiting a final decision by Suffolk County Council on our application for a 20mph speed limit in Elm Lane, Back Lane and The Street. Residents will recall that this was supported by over 80% of those who responded to our survey on the matter.
Residents will be aware of the local councillor vacancy that exists following the sad passing of Dave Busby.
Residents are advised that National Highways will be undertaking maintenance and improvement works on the A12 between junctions 29 (Crown Interchange) and 33 (Copdock Interchange) from September to November 2025.
The Parish Council is pleased to advise residents that the renovation works to the bus stop island, aimed at delivering a greatly improved and more welcoming space for residents and visitors, will commence today.

MESSAGE FROM NATIONAL HIGHWAYS -
Councillors were very sad to learn of David's passing on Sunday night. First elected in 2003, he had served Copdock and Washbrook ever since with great dedication and commitment, helping many groups and individuals along the way. In addition to this, he was a significant leadership figure within Babergh District Council serving as the deputy leader and cabinet member without portfolio which he continued to do despite his illness. He will be sadly missed by those who either knew him or who benefitted from his service.
