MESSAGE FROM NATIONAL HIGHWAYS: We are writing to tell you that we plan to carry out maintenance work on the A14 eastbound between junction 52 and 55. This maintenance work includes resurfacing, bridge joint repairs, patching works and technology works. When we’ve finished this work, you’ll have a safer, smoother road with clearer markings. A well‑maintained bridge that stays safe and reliable, and technology that helps us manage traffic and keep journeys moving.

We plan to complete this work over two nights on Wednesday 25 March and Thursday 26 March 2026. We will work overnight between 8pm and 6am, weather permitting.

Closures and diversions

To carry out the work safely, we will need to close the A14 eastbound between junction 52 and 55, and divert traffic as detailed below:

If you want to travel eastbound on the A14, please follow this diversion route:

  • Leave the A14 at junction 52 and take the B1113
  • Stay on the B1113 through Sproughton
  • At the first roundabout after Sproughton, take the first exit onto the A1071
  • At the T-junction, turn right onto the A1214 (London Road)
  • Continue to junction 55 at Copdock Roundabout, where you can rejoin the A14 eastbound and continue your journey

Emergency services (blue light) with caution, will be able to travel through the closure. They will not need to follow the same diversion route.

We’d like to thank you for your continued patience while we carry out these improvements. We know roadworks can be disruptive, but this work will mean smoother, safer journeys for everyone who uses this stretch of road.
