Parish Council
The Parish Council is delighted to advise residents that our application to Babergh District Council for a £93k grant towards the new play area has been approved and that construction will take place most likely in early 2027. The balance of the overall cost (circa £130-140k) will be met by a combination of Parish Council held CIL reserves and other smaller grants (our thanks to Cllrs Marc Rowland, Christopher Hudson and the Belstead Ganzoni Trust in this regards).
The supplier of the equipment (Kompan) and the design/equipment were chosen as a result of the feedback from children and parents who took part in the "beauty parade" consultation event held at the primary school in June. Kompan area market leaders in play area design and many parents will be familiar with other designs in Capel an Chantry Park.
Included in the overall project will be 100m of new fencing between the play area and the Brook, together with work to pollard surrounding trees.
We hope the upgraded area will provide much pleasure and enjoyment to local families over many years to come. Further detail on construction and opening dates will be provided once known.
