The Parish Council has for some time been pressing Suffolk County Council Farms (from whom we lease Jubilee Meadow) to carry out maintenance and improvement work which reduces the risk of extreme flood damage in future.

We are pleased to advise that this work is largely complete. Vegetation on the bank has been strimmed back and fallen trees and other debris removed from the mouth of the underpass and elsewhere in the brook in order to improve water flow through the meadow.

A Gabion basket wall has been installed to reinforce the eroded area of the bank and backfilled with good quality clay. The basket wall will be covered with topsoil in due course and the wider bank area reinstated through re-seeding.

We are also grateful to Matt Green for quickly repairing broken planks on the bridge and have commissioned Suffolk County Council Farms to undertake a structural engineer led inspection to see if any further work is necessary.
