The Parish Council is pleased to confirm that Suffolk County Council has (finally) acceded to our request to allow more time for residents to respond to the reapplication, especially given the less than open and transparent way in which this was launched in conjunction with a very aggressive consultation timeline.
Residents will be aware from previous communications that the Parish Council has been working with residents of Whights Corner, BMSDC and Suffolk Police to address ongoing problems with anti-social behaviour, dangerous driving and other vehicular offences. The Parish Council is pleased to confirm that a 3 month trial of CCTV monitoring of the area is now operational and expresses its thanks to Peter Watson, Community Safety Officer at Babergh District Council for his support in securing funding for this. It is hoped that this initiative will prove to be useful both as a deterrent and also as a mechanism for gathering evidence that can lead to successful enforcement. Residents should continue to report instances of dangerous driving etc. to the Police by telephoning '999', as they happen.
A wonderful response to our call to arms last week. Thanks to all those who attended and also to those who have offered help but couldn't be there in person. Another great demonstration of the wonderful latent community spirit that we have within Copdock and Washbrook
The Parish Council is currently pressing for an extension of the consultation deadline which is set as the 19th October 2024 but Suffolk County Council (SCC) is resisting this. It is vital therefore that residents SUBMIT THEIR OBJECTIONS THIS WEEK BEFORE THE DEADLINE EXPIRES.

We have, as a Council, allocated a modest budget for this purpose and would encourage any local groups domiciled within the village, who are looking for some help with a small project of some description, to get in touch to see whether we may be able to help.
