National Highways has contacted the Parish Council with an update about a change to the schedule of planned road works on the A14 between junction 52 (Claydon) and junction 55 (Copdock interchange).

National Highways now plan to start this work on Monday 16 September 2024 for approximately 2 months. Work will be carried out weeknights only, between 8pm and 6am, weather permitting.

Closures and diversions

To carry out the work safely, National Highways will need to close the A14 between junction 52 (Claydon) and junction 55 (Copdock interchange) in both directions but not simultaneously. The traffic will be diverted as detailed below:

Closures and diversions

To carry out the work safely, National Highways will need to close the A14 between junction 52 (Claydon) and 55 (Copdock Interchange), and divert traffic as detailed below:

  •  A14 eastbound junction 52-55: Monday 16 September to Wednesday 16 October
  • A14 westbound junction 55-52: Wednesday 17 October to Tuesday 19 November

While the A14 is closed eastbound, traffic will exit at junction 52 (Claydon), travel along the B1113 through Bramford and Sproughton, then along the A1071 and A1214 to rejoin the A14 at Copdock roundabout.

Westbound traffic will follow the same diversion but in reverse.

See a map of the diversion.

National Highways understands that this work may cause some inconvenience and they sincerely apologise for any disruption these changes may cause. Their team is committed to completing the road works as quickly and efficiently as possible to minimise any further inconvenience.
